New EZtrak™ Z625 with improved cyclonic engine provides an additional engine option
EZtrak Z625
Cyclonic engine cut-away
The new EZtrak Z625, like the Z435 introduced on 1 December 2014, has a 724-cc, 25-hp* (18.6-kW) cyclonic engine. The Z625 comes with a 54-in. (137-cm) Edge™ high-capacity (HC) mower deck. It is an additional model for 2015. Other than the engine difference, it is basically the same as the Z655 model that is equipped with a 726-cc, 24-hp** (17.9-kW) engine.

The Z625 provides an additional engine option for the customer in this popular-sized, zero-turn-radius mower. The engine is similar to the cyclonic engine, rated at 27-hp* (20.1-kW), that was used in the 2011-2013 model year Z445 and other EZtrak models, but with many improvements to enhance serviceability, performance, and engine life.

The cyclonic engine of the Z625 has a lower power rating than the 2011-2013 engine because it is rated using the more stringent, revised SAE J1940 standard. The actual power and performance of the new cyclonic engine is unchanged, but it will maintain higher performance levels over time because of the improvements that clean the engine air better and lower the engine oil temperature.

The improved cyclonic engine gives the Z625 proven performance at a competitive price:
  • The cyclonic engine is specifically designed for zero-turn-radius mowers.
  • The engine design includes a five-step integrated cyclonic air management system.

Patented integrated cyclonic system

Cyclonic engine cut-away
  1. Air cleaner filter
    • Large cyclonic air filter
    • Removes remaining particles
  2. Air cleaner housing and valve
    • Debris particles are spun to the outside of the air cleaner housing.
      • These particles are driven out of the air cleaner housing through a duckbill-shaped valve.
  3. Debris chopping screen
    • New rotating debris chopping screen cuts debris into small, manageable pieces and helps the engine run cooler.
  4. Fan and deflector
    • The fan forces many of the chopped particles into a deflector under the blower housing, ejecting them down and away from the engine.
  5. Baffles and ejector chute
    • A series of baffles and an ejector chute help prevent debris and dirt from reaching the air cleaner housing.

New design starts cooler (more open area) and stays cooler by not allowing debris to block cooling air.

New static cover

Standard rotating screen cover
New, taller rotating screen cover
Benefits of the taller screen include:
  • Increased cooling-air flow
  • Lower oil temperatures
  • Improved debris management

New air cleaner pre-filter

Standard air cleaner element
Standard air cleaner element plus pre-filter
New pre-filter provides additional debris-handling capacity and easy maintenance to extend air cleaner element life.

Improved engine sump gasket

Heavy-duty engine sump gasket
A new engine sump gasket improves sealing on the Z625 engine:
  • Wider gasket design improves rigidity.
  • Controlled-swell gasket material provides superior oil seal characteristics under high-heat conditions created by heavy loads.

Heavy-duty cylinder block

Standard cylinder block
Improved cylinder block showing ribs added for strength

Stronger cylinder block

Stronger cylinder block
Ribs have been added to the inside of the block to provide longer life under heavy loads, typical of zero-turn mower use.

EZ-drain oil hose

EZ-drain oil hose
Changing the engine oil is easy, convenient, and clean with the EZ-drain oil hose:
  • Oil drain cap is tethered, maintenance yellow color, tool-less, and opens in 1/4 turn for convenience.
  • An audible click indicates the cap has moved to the closed position.
  • Hose clips to a drain pan or milk jug for hands-free, no-mess draining.
  • Flexible hose has a large opening for faster drain times.
  • A durable steel fitting with sealant patch, dual hose clamps, O-ring sealed cap, and high-impact UV-stabilized plastic components help ensure against leakage.
