Today’s tough corn hybrids can be damaging to tires and tracks. John Deere-designed and factory-installed Stalk Deflectors sit behind each row to fracture corn stubble by pushing it down toward the ground. This reduces the chance of damage to the tires and tracks of the combine, as well as any other equipment taken into the field such as tractors, sprayers, planter and seeder tires (especially gauge wheels and press wheels), grain carts, or pickup trucks. They are lightweight and integrated directly into the frame. With the investment made in tires or tracks, Stalk Deflectors are critical to an operation.

Benefits

  • Reduce corn head weight with factory-installed John Deere Stalk Deflectors that are one-fifth the weight of Lankota® Stalk Stomper® equipment.
  • No additional tool bar is required for mounting as the Stalk Deflectors are mounted directly into the corn head frame.
  • Preserve trade value of the combine and other equipment by maintaining good tire and track condition. Single pin-up process per row-unit easily places corn heads on header trailers when needed.
  • Single pin-up process per row-unit easily places corn heads on header trailers when needed.

When placing a corn head with Stalk Deflectors on a header trailer, it is recommended to place the Stalk Deflectors in the trailer position for best trailering experience. It is important for the front-end equipment that the trailer position is not used for field use.

  1. To adjust for front-end equipment trailers, place the front pin into the high-clearance adjustment hole (A) as shown.

  2. Ensure that the rear pin (B) is positioned in the top hole as shown.
